
PJ Music Studios Director
Pam Smirl-Jordens is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who creates an outstanding environment for teaching and learning. Her goal in teaching is "to instill enthusiasm and joy in a student while maintaining a high standard of learning".
Pam has extensive expertise and knowledge in teaching and in music. This is shown through the success of young students she has taught or the instructors at PJ Music Studios have taught. Our students consistently receive awards in performance, theory, and composition both locally, provincially, and nationally. Pam feels so rewarded sharing in their enjoyment and seeing them succeed in their musical training. She has found special rewards in teaching students with behavioral challenges, autism, Downs Syndrome and Tourette's Syndrome(with severe anger management challenges).
Since 1980, Pam has successfully run PJ Music Studios which offers a wide range of options for musical instruction with professionally certified instructors. She also run programs at four recreation centres in the Victoria area. Pam has always been active in the music community and on has volunteered on music boards such as a Representative for the Victoria Music Teachers Association at the Provincial Level, a member of the ORFF Association, and the Section Head for Composition for the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival.
Pam has a broad range of education in the field of music and music teaching. In the area of Early Childhood Music, she received her ORFF Teacher Training with distinction at Seattle Pacific University; Kindermusik Professional Educator Training with Kindermusik Canada; Music for Young Children Certificate at Burnaby, B.C.; Suzuki Piano Teacher Training at Trinity College; Piano, Voice, and Kelly Kirby Class Teaching Certificate at the Victoria Conservatory Conducting Course; and Music For Wee Folk and Music Language Class Teacher Training at the Music Language Institute.
